Tell us about a transformative educational experience.
In my junior year of college, I attended the National Theatre Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Center in Connecticut. The program challenged me in every way as an actor and theater creator. It taught me how to take risks with my art and find my voice as a theater maker.
What about transformative professional experiences?
When I created a high school theater program in Brooklyn, NY I was able to work with teenagers to make something brand new and exciting. It sharpened my educational, artistic, and logistical skill sets and was the most fun I’ve ever had in rehearsal rooms! Plus I got to direct musicals!
Why I do what I do...
I have been hooked on performance since I was 13. I love to work with like-minded people (be it a professional theater company or my high school drama students) to make something from nothing and say something about the human condition. I do this work to have fun and be a part of something bigger than myself.
What about ECT inspires you?
I am inspired by ECT’s commitment to risk-taking. The work is unapologetically theatrical, truthful, and full of energy and thought.
