Francesca Gamez (Guest Artist)

Bio

Francesca Gamez is very honored and  excited to be working with ECT on their production of Romeo & Juliet! She’s a proud San Diego native (Go Chargers) who was lucky to be exposed to the arts from a young age. She went on to receive her BA in Theatre Arts, Spanish and Latin American Studies from California State University, Chico. She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she completed the Art of Acting Studio’s Professional Acting Conservatory program. Francesca would like to take this time to thank her family for their undying support and love.  After the show, find her on the dance floor!

Getting To Know... Francesca

Tell us about a transformative educational experience.

I attended the Summer Arts program during my time at Chico State and in my improv intensive course, I had the immense pleasure of working with Eric Hunicutt. We worked on character based improv with him and we spent a day in Monterey people watching at the pier. When we went back to campus he asked us to answer a series of very simple questions as one of the “characters” we saw in town that day. And it was as if a giant gear fell into place. Acting and “point of view” suddenly became so clear to me and I did the best improv I’d ever done! To this day, I answer those same questions for every character I play, no matter the size of the role.

What about transformative professional experiences?

I performed in the Hollywood Fringe Festival  last summer and being apart of such a cool and surprisingly large festival, really taught me the importance of putting up your own work/ work that speaks to you ASAP. You can do it!  It’s not as hard as it looks but it is as terrifying as it looks. And a billion times more gratifying.

Why I do what I do...

Because it’s like the most intense version of dress-up ever.  Which can be a totally transformative experience.

What about ECT inspires you?

The fearless nature of the company. Aaron and this company of actors inspires me to risk and overcome my self doubt to be the best actor I can be because of the example they set. I’m surrounded by a committed group of actors and it’s the best learning experience I could’ve asked for.

Where have you traveled? Where would you like to visit?

I have traveled all throughout CA, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Hampshire, Boston. Mexico. China.  I studied abroad in Costa Rica for year in college and visited Panama. I would like to travel all throughout Central and South America. I also want travel all throughout Europe, but most especially, I want to go to Rome with Giulia Blandino.

My favorite "day-off" event would be...

Going with friends to a cool festival with music, dancing, art, and free food.

If I had one million dollars I would...

I would save a bunch of it, then I would start a college fund for all my nieces and nephews (I have 7) and then I’d use the rest to re-do my waredrobe and help fund some art in LA.

Did you know...

I'm a twin.
